Abi Clarke
In the earlier
days (i.e. early 2020. In the past comedians would have had the expectation to
tour across the UK for a long time before getting invited to join a television
panel and selling an arena tour. It's not easy right now. Comedy is a form of
art which has managed to continue to be performed in front of an audience,
however, we'll probably not be seeing arena tours anytime soon. One comedian
from Bristol is able to reach a large global audience via social media
lockdown. Abi Clarke never set out to be an internet superstar. The 24-year
old, living in Hen bury with her parents, initially began making videos online
"to gain a following of like-minded people who would like my stand-up
comedy. "I was performing a lot in Devon to males aged 50 and older who
weren't as hot on my Love Island Sims and Twilight references, so I decided to
go online to find other young women who would like my stand-up comic."
Abi, who lives in Henbury with her parents, has continued to upload her videos
to Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok. Her inspiration comes from a variety of
sources, including conversations with strangers, chat room, and writes notes on
her smartphone.
